Coaching Session

Context

As an educated musician, I have a thirteen-year-old son, Noah, who has been playing the piano since he was six. Our strong fellowship stems from my involvement in his musical trip in the morning. Although Noah has been taking piano assignments for several times, his knowledge of music propositions and capability to extemporize or compose original music is limited.

Lately, I began tutoring him with introductory music propositions and extemporization ways to enhance his piano playing. Our participating musical bournes have led us to explore ways to ameliorate our chops and knowledge. The ensuing interview outlines our discussion about Noah’s desire to consolidate his understanding of music propositions and ameliorate his capability to extemporize passions while playing the piano.

Applying the GROW Model

During this coaching session, I employed the GROW model to guide my son. The GROW model consists of four stages: Reality, Options, and Will. Each stage involved asking targeted questions to help Noah articulate his pretensions, assess his current reality, explore options for enhancement, and commit to specific conduct.

Our strong bond eased a personable and honest discussion, allowing for genuine discussion and responsibility. Open-ended questions encouraged Noah to think broadly, while closed-ended questions helped narrow down his answers for greater clarity and focus (Herd, 2015).

Applying the GROW model involved acclimatizing each question to ensure applicability and clarity. Some challenges included demanding to unfold on certain questions due to Noah’s age and limited understanding. Despite these challenges, the session was pleasurable and stressed our participating provocations and the distractions we both face.

Coaching Experience Analysis

Coaching has been a natural part of my life, especially since I adopted my oldest son four years ago. This part has handed multitudinous openings to guide him through nonage.

Through guiding, I’ve learned the significance of genuine listening and not butting in while someone else is speaking. This consumption was clearly during the session with Noah, where I sometimes remembered their answers by allowing my upcoming questions.

It is important for effective coaching to take an interest in NOAH’s complete obstacles. For illustration, helping him produce a realistic daily schedule demonstrates an understanding of his perspective. The obligation to follow the sessions will increase the growth and progress of the thing to learn the music proposal.

Training methods showed that engagement requires special interest and authenticity. A successful coaching relationship rests on establishing an authentic phase for dialogue and installing an authentic phase for real trade and meaningful progress (Fallermann et al., 2023).
