The consequences extend to healthcare organizations, where inadequate staffing may result in compromised patient outcomes, increased healthcare costs, and challenges in retaining a skilled workforce. Inadequate staffing is a significant concern for nurses. It means there may not be enough nurses to care for patients properly. Baccalaureate-prepared nurses have an important role in recognizing and addressing this issue.
